Lexi Cline has mastered the art of combining captivating and catchy with a touch of tears to create the ultimate heartbreak bop, clearly showcased in her new single “Orange Juice.” But this time, “heartbreak” is officially cancelled, hereby replaced with dancing the night away to heal a heart that’s bruised, not broken. Though it is releasing Friday, we have been given the exclusive premiere for the track so you can hear it here first.
With ethereal synth pads and dreamy harmonies, “Orange Juice” makes it easy to get lost in the music as Lexi Cline sings of the classic situationship narrative we’re all too familiar with. While the tune’s upbeat, spunky production may take center stage at first, Cline was particularly intentional about her lyric choices as they brought out the true energy of the song.
“Heartbreak is something everybody is familiar with, but we’re all a lot more resilient than we give ourselves credit for,” she explains. “We call it a broken heart, but I think a bruised heart is more accurate.”
And what’s the best quick cure for a bruised heart? “A little more champagne, a little less thinking”– a pearl of wisdom from Cline herself, and a pretty relatable one! “
Of course we all have that one person who sits in our heads and never disappears no matter what, so when the thought of him creeps back in, get out of the house, call up friends, and get your mind off of the sore loser who hurt you!”
